Jerome V. Tolbert, MD, PhD, attended the New York University School of Medicine, and received his medical degree in 1975. Then, he served his internship and internal medicine residency at Harlem Hospital Center (1975-1978). In addition, Dr. Tolbert received board certification in internal medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine. He remains an active member of the East Harlem Diabetes Center of Excellence. Moreover, he is a consultant for the United Nations as well as member and past president of the American Diabetes Association’s National Leadership Council. Prior to medical school, he acquired a BS degree (1965) and MS degree in Cell Biology (1967) at Howard University, as well as a PhD in Endocrinology and Microbiology at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.
